The Boston Red Sox have signed Alex Bregman, a much needed right-handed bat, to a three-year, $120 million contract. Bregman stated he was open to shifting off third base. He mentioned the possibility of moving to second base when entering free agency.

The Red Sox bring in the right-handed bat they needed. They now have a scary lineup that can compete to win the American League East. They are deep at starting pitching and have a solid bullpen. The lineup needed a bat like Bregman. Now it looks complete. The Red Sox have a real shot to make the postseason for the first time since 2021. That year, Bregman and the Astros beat them in the ALCS. The lineup includes Jarren Duran, Bregman, and Devers. It also features Triston Casas, Trevor Story, Masataka Yoshida, Wilyer Abreu, Connor Wong, and Ceddanne Rafaela.

Alex Bregman

Bregman was drafted by the Houston Astros with the second overall pick in the 2015 MLB Draft. In 2024 he played in 145 games hitting .260 with a .768 OPS. He hit 30 doubles, two triples, and 26 home runs. He drove in 75 RBI and scored 79 runs. He also stole three bases and took 44 walks. The 2025 season will be his tenth in the big leagues, he is a .272 career hitter with a .848 OPS. He has 265 doubles. He has 18 triples. He has 191 home runs. He has driven in 663 RBI. He has scored 694 runs. He has 42 stolen bases. He has taken 576 walks. He is a two-time All-Star. He won his first Gold Glove in 2024. He has finished in the top five of MVP voting twice in 2018 and 2019. In 2019, he finished second, losing to Mike Trout.
