The Boston Red Sox had a meeting with the top free agent Juan Soto last week and the meeting was said to have gone very well despite no money being discussed by either side. The meeting was said to have lasted three hours and Soto was reportedly impressed with the Red Sox. Over the weekend reports have been coming out that the Red Sox are reportedly in on LHP Blake Snell which is a need for their rotation as they don’t have a southpaw currently in their starting five. Another name they are linked to is Willy Adames who reportedly is open to a position change from shortstop. Finally, the Red Sox have been mentioned as the top team to acquire Garrett Crochet from the Chicago White Sox, some have said the cost may be outfielder Wilyer Abreu as the White Sox want a bat and even RHP Kutter Crawford.
LHP – Blake Snell
Snell will be 32 on December 4th. The 6-4 225lb lefty will be entering his tenth season, he’s made 211 career starts going 76-58 with a 3.19 ERA, a 3.35 FIP, a 1.22 WHIP, a 0.9 HR/9, a 4.1 BB/9, and an 11.2 K/9 in 1,096.2 innings. Last season with the San Francisco Giants he made 20 starts going 5-3 with a 3.12 ERA, a 2.43 FIP, a 1.05 WHIP, a 0.5 HR/9, a 3.8 BB/9, and a career-high 12.5 K/9 in 104 innings. He is a two-time Cy Young award winner winning in 2018 and 2023, he was also an All-Star in 2018.

SS – Willy Adames
Adames just turned 29, in 2025 he will playing in his eighth season. He is a career .248 hitter with a career .766 OPS; he has 172 doubles, five triples, 150 home runs, 467 runs scored, 51 stolen bases, and 348 walks. This past season he played in 161 games hitting .251 with a .794 OPS; he had 33 doubles, 32 home runs, 112 RBI, 93 runs scored, 21 stolen bases, and 74 walks, it was career high in home runs, RBI, runs scored, stolen bases, and walks. His prime issue is his plate discipline as he has struck out 150+ times in five of his seven completed seasons. He has a career .967 fielding percentage having played 860 games at shortstop and ten games at second base.
LHP – Garrett Crochet
Crochet just wrapped up his first season as a starter and he made 32 starts going 6-12 with a 3.58 ERA, a 2.69 FIP, a 1.07 WHIP, and he had 209 strikeouts in 146 innings. For his career, he’s appeared in 104 games going 9-19 with a 3.29 ERA, a 2.84 FIP, a 1.16 WHIP, a 0.9 HR/9, a 3.0 BB/9, and a 12.1 K/9 in 219 innings. The only stipulation with Crochet is his innings, he only pitched six-plus innings in 11 of his 32 starts, he did pitch into the sixth in one other start but was pulled after 5.2 innings.
