
The Boston Red Sox start a series against the Cleveland Guardians today. The calendars have officially flipped to the final month of the 2025 season, and with that, rosters have also expanded. Each team set its roster at 28 players. Teams can’t have more than 14 pitchers. Today, the Red Sox called up catcher Alí Sanchez and right-handed pitcher Zack Kelly from Triple-A Worcester.

Alí Sanchez
Sanchez was re-acquired last night by the Red Sox. In his lone bat for Boston on August 12th he went 0-1. He appeared in eight games for the Blue Jays hitting .238 with a .571 OPS. He had two doubles and scored two runs. In 54 minor league games for Toronto, he hit .274 with a .747 OPS. He had eight doubles, six home runs, 32 RBI, 25 runs scored, and 18 walks.

Zack Kelly
Kelly this season in 17 games for the Red Sox went 1-3. He posted a 5.56 ERA, a 1.46 WHIP, and 25 strikeouts in 22.2 innings. In 23 minor league games with two of those coming as starts, he went 1-1. Kelly posted a 5,72 ERA, a 1.52 WHIP, and 32 strikeouts in 28.1 innings
