The Boston Red Sox are entering the toughest week of their schedule to this point of the season starting with a three-game series against the Philadelphia Phillies. The Red Sox have dealt with injuries this season in names such as Lucas Giolito, Trevor Story, and Garrett Whitlock going down for the season, they’ve been without Triston Casas, Rafael Devers, Vaughn Grissom, Bryan Bello, Tyler O’Neill, Wilyer Abreu, and Masataka Yoshida for certain periods of time this season. Today they got one of those bats back in Masataka Yoshida who has been reinstated from the 10-day injured list and in a move to bring Yoshida back they have designated Garrett Cooper for assignment.

Cooper started the season with the Cubs playing in 12 games going 10-37 with a double, a triple, a home run, six RBI, three runs scored, and four walks. He was designated for assignment and then acquired by the Red Sox for cash, he played in 24 games hitting .171 with a .455 OPS; he had four doubles, five RBI, three runs scored, and three walks.
