The Boston Red Sox are coming off their second straight win taking the first two games of the series against the Pittsburgh Pirates behind solid pitching performances from Brayan Bello and Kutter Crawford yesterday, the two combined for 12 innings, allowing one run on eight hits; they combined for five walks and 13 strikeouts. Today in the finale with the Red Sox looking to sweep they’ll have Josh Winckowski taking the ball. Before the first pitch today the Red Sox placed first baseman Triston Casas on the 10-Day Injured List with a left rib strain which caused him to leave the game in the first inning after his at-bat. They recalled catcher Tyler Heineman from Triple-A Worcester. 

Red Sox Moves By The Numbers

1B – Triston Casas

Casas is in his second full season with the Red Sox after making his debut in 2022. He finished third in Rookie of the Year voting last season hitting .263 with a .856 OPS; he had 21 doubles, two triples, 24 home runs, 65 RBI, and 66 runs scored. This season he is hitting .244 with a .857 OPS; he has three doubles, six home runs, ten RBI, and 12 runs scored. He just caught fire in April as he hit .286 with a 1.003 OPS; he had all of his doubles and home runs come in the month with nine of his ten RBI also coming in April. 

C – Tyler Heineman 

Heineman was purchased by the Red Sox on February 2nd. This spring he went 5-13 in eight games with an RBI, four runs scored, and two walks. At Triple-A Worcester he hit .259 with a .708 OPS; he had one double, two RBI, seven runs scored, two stolen bases, and five walks. Throughout his career, he has spent time with the Miami Marlins, San Francisco Giants, Toronto Blue Jays, and Pittsburgh Pirates.
