The Boston Red Sox are coming off a 3-2 loss to the Atlanta Braves yesterday and they are off today before returning to the field tomorrow against the Tampa Bay Rays in the Dominican series. Kutter Crawford will take the ball for the Red Sox as he makes his third start of the spring, he goes into that one posting a 1.80 ERA, a 1.00 WHIP, and five strikeouts in five innings. Red Sox Roster Moves By The Numbers
Wikelman Gonzalez
Gonzalez is the Red Sox seventh-ranked prospect by ITD. Last season he pitched at High-A Greenville and Double-A Portland. He made 25 starts going 9-4 with a 3.96 ERA, a 1.31 WHIP, and 168 strikeouts in 111.1 innings. At Double-A Portland he made ten starts going 3-1 with a 2.42 ERA, a 1.13 WHIP, and 63 strikeouts in 48.1 innings. Gonzalez will be a pitcher to watch in Worcester this season as he could be a name that makes his big-league debut in 2024 if an injury arises.
Luis Perales
Perales is the Red Sox tenth ranked prospect by ITD. Last season he pitched at Single-A Salem and High-A Greenville making 21 starts going 4-7 with a 3.91 ERA, 1.41 WHIP, and 115 strikeouts in 89.2 innings. At High-A he made eight starts going 0-3 with a 4.95 ERA, a 1.67 WHIP, and 44 strikeouts in 36.1 innings. It’s interesting that the Red Sox decided after last season to option him to Triple-A Worcester to start the 2024 season but we’ll see if he can make that leap skipping Double-A.
