The Boston Red Sox today added two prospects to their 40-man roster so they wouldn’t lose them in the Rule 5 Draft on December 6th. They added RHP Wikelman Gonzalez and RHP Luis Perales; Gonzalez is the ninth-ranked prospect in the Red Sox system, while Perales is the tenth-ranked. The Red Sox have allowed RHP Angel Bastardo, LHP Shane Drohan, INF Eddinson Paulino, and OF Allan Castro to be eligible for the draft. Those players may not be selected as teams are not obligated to take a player, so it’ll be interesting to see who stays in a few weeks.
