MLB All-Star Game Recap

The American League scored first as Cody Bellinger drove in two with a single. Then another Yankee, Ben Rice, drove in another run with a single to make it 3-0. The AL added to their lead as Chicago White Sox’s Miguel Vargas hit a solo home run to make it 4-0. That was it as the American League blanked the National League.

Standout Game Performer

Dylan Cease from the Toronto Blue Jays struck out three of the four batters he faced. The other batter reached on a walk after he struck out the first two hitters.

Key News & Notes

Willson Contreras

Contreras entered the game at the bottom of the fourth to play first base. He went 1-1 with a single to right field. That was his only at-bat as Munetaka Murakami replaced him at the bottom of the seventh.

Ceddanne Rafaela

Rafaela also entered the game at the bottom of the fourth to play center field. He struck out in his first at-bat on three pitches. He did get a second at-bat, but he grounded out to second on the first pitch he saw.

Aroldis Chapman

Chapman got the first two batters of the ninth. He struck out the first batter he faced on five pitches. The second batter popped out to shortstop.

Red Sox Trade

The Red Sox acquired Jahmai Jones from the Detroit Tigers for a player to be named later. The Tigers designated Jones for assignment last week. In 57 games this season, he’s hitting .137 with a .440 OPS. He has two doubles, two home runs, seven RBI, seven runs scored, and has walked ten times.
