Boston Red Sox Down on the Farm July Check-In

The Boston Red Sox Triple-A affiliate in Worcester finished July going 10-13 and outscored their opponents 129-122. Double-A Portland went 14-8 in July and outscored their opponents 110-84. High-A Greenville went 15-8 and outscored their opponents 137-91. Single-A Salem finished the month 13-10 and were outscored by their opponents 110-98.

SS – Marcelo Mayer – Portland Sea Dogs

Mayer in July hit .303, and a .846 OPS; he had three doubles, one home run, two RBI, six runs scored, and three walks. This season he is hitting .307 with a .850 OPS; he has eight home runs, 38 RBI, 60 runs scored, and 13 stolen bases.

OF – Roman Anthony – Portland Sea Dogs

Anthony in July hit .284 with a .929 OPS; he had three doubles, a triple, five home runs, 13 RBI, 13 runs scored, seven walks, and seven stolen bases. This season he is hitting .254 with a .833 OPS; he has 13 home runs, 37 RBI, 48 runs scored, and 13 stolen bases.

C – Kyle Teel – Portland Sea Dogs

Teel last month hit .266 with a .739 OPS; he had four doubles, one home run, six RBI, ten runs scored, 11 walks, and two stolen bases. This season he is hitting .295 with an .833 OPS; he has nine home runs, 54 RBI, 59 runs scored, and seven stolen bases.

OF – Miguel Bleis – Greenville Drive

Bleis in July hit .253 with a .765 OPS; he had four doubles, four home runs, 14 RBI, 13 runs scored, seven walks, and ten stolen bases. This season he is hitting .237 with a .691 OPS; he has eight home runs, 39 RBI, 45 runs scored, and 32 stolen bases. 

RHP – Wikelman Gonzalez – Portland Sea Dogs

Gonzalez made four starts in July, but he didn’t record a decision, he had a 1.93 ERA, a 1.00 WHIP, and 14 strikeouts in 14 innings. This season in 17 appearances with 14 coming as starts he is 3-2 with a 6.04 ERA, a 1.46 WHIP, and 63 strikeouts in 56.2 innings.

2B – Nick Yorke –Worcester Red Sox

Yorke was traded at the deadline but before the trade in Worcester, he hit .273 with two doubles, four home runs, nine RBI, 16 runs scored, 11 walks, and one stolen base. This season with Worcester he is hit .310 with a .898 OPS; he had six home runs, 19 RBI, 32 runs scored, and six stolen bases. 

RHP – Luis Perales – Portland Sea Dogs

Perales is out for the season after undergoing Tommy John surgery. He finished his season going 2-2 in nine starts with a 2.94 ERA, a 1.31 WHIP, and 56 strikeouts in 33.2 innings.

SS – Yoeilin Cespedes – Salem Red Sox

Cespedes has a broken left hand and didn’t play in July. This season he hit .319 with a 1.015 OPS; he had five home runs, 24 RBI, 20 runs scored, and three stolen bases.

RHP – Richard Fitts – Worcester Red Sox

Fitts in July made four starts going 0-3 with a 7.94 ERA, a 1.88 WHIP, and 12 strikeouts in 17 innings. This season in 18 appearances with 17 starts going 5-5 with a 4.90 ERA, a 1.44 WHIP, and 68 strikeouts in 69.2 innings.

SS/2B – Mikey Romero – Greenville Drive

Romero in July hit .354 with a 1.162 OPS; he had 12 doubles, one triple, seven home runs, 19 RBI, 18 runs scored, four walks, and a stolen base. This season he is hitting .282 with a .858 OPS; he has eight home runs, 31 RBI, and 37 runs scored.

Month Ahead:

Worcester Red Sox (48-55)

In August the Red Sox Triple-A affiliate will take on the Buffalo Bisons the Triple-A affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays, the Syracuse Mets the Triple-A affiliate of the New York Mets, the Leigh Valley IronPigs the Triple-A affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies, the Norfolk Tides the affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles and play five of their six games against the Toledo Mud Hens the Triple-A affiliate of the Detroit Tigers.

Portland Sea Dogs (53-43)

The Red Sox Double-A affiliate will take on the Erie Seawolves the Double-A affiliate of the Detroit Tigers, the Altoona Curve the Double-A affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates, the New York Mets Double-A affiliate the Binghamton Rumble Ponies, the New York Yankees affiliate the Somerset Patriots, and the Harrisburg Senators for five games before the month ends the Double-A affiliate of the Washington Nationals.

Greenville Drive (45-53)

The Red Sox High-A affiliate the Greenville Drive will take on the Wilmington Blue Rocks, the High-A affiliate of the Washington Nationals, the Winston-Salem Dash the High-A affiliate of the Chicago White Sox, the Baltimore Orioles affiliate the Aberdeen IronBirds, the Rome Emperors the affiliate of the Atlanta Braves, and five games against the Bowling Green Hot Rods, the affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays.

Salem Red Sox (51-47)

The Red Sox Single-A affiliate will take on the Kannapolis Cannons the affiliate of the Chicago White Sox, the Delmarva Shorebirds the Single-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles, the Fredericksburg Nationals, the affiliate of the Washington Nationals, the Lynchburg Hillcats the Single-A affiliate of the Cleveland Guardians, and five more games against Delmarva.
