Boston Red Sox Down on the Farm 5/27-6/2

The Boston Red Sox Triple-A affiliate in Worcester took on the Charlotte Knights and split their series. Their Double-A affiliate took on the Altoona Curve and won four of their six games. The High-A affiliate the Greenville Drive took on the Rome Emperors and they dropped five of their six games. Their Single-A affiliate the Salem Red Sox took on Lynchburg and they also dropped five of the six games.

Boston Red Sox Top 10 Prospects Recap

SS – Marcelo Mayer – Portland Sea Dogs

Mayer last week went 7-23 with two doubles, a home run, five RBI, eight runs scored, five walks, and one stolen base. He is hitting .295 with a .837 OPS; he has six home runs, 27 RBI, and 42 runs scored.

OF – Roman Anthony – Portland Sea Dogs

Anthony didn’t play last week. This season he is hitting .243 with a .757 OPS; he has three home runs, 13 RBI, and 20 runs scored.

C – Kyle Teel – Portland Sea Dogs

Teel had a monster week last week going 10-24 with a double, two home runs, nine RBI, five runs scored, and two walks. This season he is hitting .307 with a .908 OPS; he has six home runs, 34 RBI, and 33 runs scored.

OF – Miguel Bleis – Salem Red Sox

Bleis went 3-8 with a walk in two games. He is hitting .258 with a .755 OPS; he has four home runs, 18 RBI, and 23 runs scored.

RHP – Wikelman Gonzalez – Portland Sea Dogs

Gonzalez got the start on Tuesday and suffered a loss going four innings giving up six runs, five earned on five hits; he walked four and struck out two. He is 3-2 with a 7.11 ERA, a 1.52 WHIP, and 35 strikeouts in 31.2 innings.

2B – Nick Yorke – Portland Sea Dogs

Yorke went 6-23 with a double, a home run, four RBI, four runs scored, and a walk. This season he is hitting .246 with a .681 OPS; he has four home runs, 27 RBI, and 20 runs scored.

SS – Yoelin Cespedes – FCL Red Sox

Cespedes went 5-16 with a triple, a home run, three RBI, three runs scored, and four walks. This season he is hitting .281 with a .899 OPS; he has two home runs, 16 RBI, and ten runs scored

RHP – Richard Fitts – Worcester Red Sox

Fitts got the ball on Wednesday going seven innings giving up one run, no earned runs on one hit; he didn’t issue a walk and struck out seven. He is 4-1 with a 3.72 ERA, a 1.22 WHIP, and 41 strikeouts in 48.1 innings.

RHP – Luis Perales – Portland Sea Dogs

Perales made his fist Double-A start on Sunday and picked up a win going five innings giving up one run, it was unearned on two hits; he walked one and struck out seven. This season he is 2-2 with a 2.87 ERA, a 1.31 WHIP, and 53 strikeouts in 31.1 innings.

SS/2B – Mikey Romero – Greenville Drive

Romero last week played in three games going 4-15 with a double, two runs scored, and a walk. This season he is hitting .302 with a .792 OPS; he has one home run, six RBI, and four runs scored.
