The Boston Red Sox will begin a three-game series today against the Texas Rangers. The Red Sox are coming off a tough weekend in which they were swept and were outscored 23-10. Yesterday had some disappointing and exciting news within the system. James Paxton left yesterday’s start in the first inning with a calf injury. On a positive note, they promoted the big three prospects Marcelo Mayer, Roman Anthony, and Kyle Teel to Triple-A Worcester, meaning they are one step from making it to the big leagues. Today a lot of moves happened as Brayan Bello was activated from the Paternity List and will start tonight, recalled Bailey Horn from Triple-A Worcester, Chase Shugart, and Mickey Gasper were recalled from Triple-A Worcester. Paxton was placed on the injured list and Brennan Bernardino and Brad Keller were optioned to Triple-A Worcester. Jamie Westbrook was designated for assignment. One final move is Jarren Duran was suspended two games for using a homophobic slur that a hot mic caught in yesterday’s game directed at a fan. 

RHP – Brayan Bello

Bello will get the ball to open the series, this season he is 10-5 with a 5.16 ERA, a 4.61 FIP, a 1.45 WHIP, a 3.3 BB/9, and an 8.8 K/9 in 111.2 innings. For his career, he is 24-24 with a 4.64 ERA, a 1.45 WHIP, a 3.1 BB/9, and an 8.2 K/9. 

LHP – Bailey Horn 

Horn in nine games with the Red Sox this season in 1-1 with a 6.39 ERA, a 1.66 WHIP, a 4.3 BB/9, and a 7.1 K/9 in 12.2 innings. 

RHP – Chase Shugart

Shugart this season is 4-2 with 28 appearances with five of those coming as starts, he has a 4.98 ERA, a 1.44 WHIP, a 4.4 BB/9, and a 10.7 K/9 59.2 innings.

C/INF – Mickey Gasper

Gasper has appeared at Double-A Portland and Triple-A Worcester this season appearing in 84 games hitting .341 with a 1.017 OPS; he had 25 doubles, 12 home runs, 54 RBI, 64 runs scored, four stolen bases, and 55 walks. 

LHP – Brennan Bernadino

Bernadino this season has appeared in 43 games with two of those coming as starts, he is 4-3 with a 3.83 ERA, a 1.43 WHIP, a 3.8 BB/9, and a 9.0 K/9 in 40 innings. 

RHP – Brad Keller

Keller has made ten appearances this season going 0-1 with a 5.66 ERA, a 1.50 WHIP, a 3.0 BB/9, and a 7.4 K/9 in 20.2 innings. 

LHP – James Paxton 

Paxton since being acquired had made three starts going 1-1 with a 4.09 ERA, a 1.36 WHIP, a 1.6 BB/9, and a 7.4 K/9 in 11 innings. 

OF – Jarren Duran 

Duran has played in 116 games this season hitting .291 with a .853 OPS; he has 36 doubles, 13 triples, 14 home runs, 58 RBI, 80 runs scored, 29 stolen bases, and 42 walks. 

INF/OF – Jamie Westbrook 

Westbrook in two stints with the Red Sox has played in 21 games hitting .150 with a .584 OPS; he had two doubles, two home runs, seven RBI, four runs scored, and four walks.
