Bo Bichette Injury
Bichette was hurt on September 6th against the New York Yankees. He was hurt on a play at the plate and placed on the 10-day injured list retroactive to September 7th. It was later revealed that he was sidelined with a PCL sprain.
Today’s news confirms that Bichette’s done for the 2025 regular season. He and the team are hoping he’s able to return to game action sooner rather than later.
It was confirmed today by manager John Schneider that Bichette’s PCL sprain didn’t show anything new after seeking a second opinion. The hope is for the 27-year-old to ramp up training later this week. The Blue Jays hope he can resume playing “as soon as possible,” Schneider told the media.
While the news isn’t ideal, Schneider told reporters that the update was positive and that Bichette only required rest and rehab ahead of the postseason.
Bichette currently leads the league in hits (181) and doubles (44) while also batting .311, racking up 18 home runs and tallying 94 runs batted in (RBI).
What’s Next For Toronto
Andre Gimenez, 27, has been playing shortstop recently in Bichette’s absence. Gimenez is currently batting .211 with 64 hits, 30 RBIs, and seven home runs across 91 games throughout his 2025 season with the Blue Jays.
Currently boasting an 88-62 win-loss record and sitting atop the AL East, they look to score more crucial wins as they’re just four games away from clinching a playoff spot and nine games away from clinching a division title. The Blue Jays are neck and neck with the Tampa Bay Rays (73-76) in a four-game series. Toronto is looking to create more distance from first to second place in the AL East.
The Blue Jays wrap up their regular season schedule at home against the Tampa Bay Rays on September 28th.
