The Baltimore Orioles this season have had a rough start to the 2025 season. They are in last place in the American League East at 13-22. On the other side, the Seattle Mariners are in first place in the American League West at 22-14. Late last night, the Mariners agreed to trade right-handed pitcher Luis F. Castillo to the Orioles in exchange for cash. The Mariners had designated Castillo for assignment prior to his being traded to Baltimore. In two starts, he posted a 7.71 ERA, a 2.71 WHIP, and five strikeouts in seven innings. In four starts at Triple-A, he went 0-1 with a 5.02 ERA, a 1.12 WHIP, and 12 strikeouts in 14.1 innings. It’ll be interesting to see how Baltimore used him either as a starter or a reliever.
