The Baltimore Orioles are coming off a series sweep over the Tampa Bay Rays now they will return home for a three-game series with the Atlanta Braves. Tonight the Orioles will have Albert Suarez on the mound taking on Max Friend for the Braves. Ahead of tonight’s game, the Orioles were active as they activated Jorge Mateo from the injured list and optioned Connor Norby to Triple-A Norfolk. They also recalled RHP Bryan Baker from Norfolk and placed LHP Danny Coulombe on the 15-day injured list with left elbow inflammation.

Baltimore Orioles Moves By The Numbers

SS – Jorge Mateo

Mateo returns to the Orioles after being placed on the injured list with a concussion. He had played in 42 games hitting .246 with a .741 OPS; he had 12 doubles, one triple, three home runs, 13 RBI, 19 runs scored, ten stolen bases, and eight walks. He’s played four seasons for the Orioles playing in 340 games hitting .228 with a .655 OPS; he has 58 doubles, 11 triples, 25 home runs, 105 RBI, 149 runs scored, 82 stolen bases, and 287 walks.

2B – Connor Norby

Norby in his time with Baltimore had played in four games going 3-14 with a home run, two RBI, and two runs scored. He’s spent time across every level playing in 344 games hitting .283 with a .859 OPS; he has 86 doubles, nine triples, 62 home runs, 220 RBI, 258 runs scored, 39 stolen bases, and 161 walks. This season he is hitting .286 with a .884 OPS in 51 games; he has 17 doubles, one triple, nine home runs, 36 RBI, 42 runs scored, seven stolen bases, and 27 walks at Norfolk.

RHP – Bryan Baker

Baker has been with the Orioles since November 8, 2021, after he was claimed off waivers. In 2022 in his first season with Baltimore, he appeared in 66 games with two of those coming as starts going 4-3 with a 3.49 ERA, a 2.74 FIP, a 1.23 WHIP, and 76 strikeouts in 69.2 innings. In 2023 he made 46 appearances going 4-3 with a 3.60 ERA, a 3.81 FIP, a 1.26 WHIP, and 51 strikeouts in 45 innings. This season at Norfolk he’s appeared in 23 games going 1-1 with a 6.55 ERA, a 1.45 WHIP, and 30 strikeouts in 22 innings.

LHP – Danny Coulombe

Coulombe was purchased by the Orioles on March 27th and he’s appeared in 29 games going 1-0 with a 2.84 FIP, a 0.61 WHIP, and 28 strikeouts in 26 innings. Coulombe has been one of the key pieces to the Orioles bullpen in 2024, hopefully, he’s out the minimum time needed.
