Baltimore Orioles Roster Transactions | Inside The Diamonds

The Baltimore Orioles wrap up their series against the Arizona Diamondbacks this afternoon. They have split the first two games of the series. Baltimore won game one 5-1, but they dropped last night’s game 4-3. Ahead of the series finale today, the Orioles placed right-handed pitcher Zach Eflin on the 15-day injured list with a right lat strain. They recalled right-handed pitcher Colin Selby from Triple-A Norfolk. Eflin this season is 2-1 with a 3.00 ERA, a 0.83 WHIP, and eight strikeouts in 18 innings. He last pitched on Monday, going six innings, giving up one run on four hits; he didn’t issue a walk and struck out one. Selby this season has appeared in three games for Norfolk. He hasn’t allowed a run on one hit; he’s walked one and struck out five.

Zach Eflin

The Orioles acquired Eflin last season from Tampa Bay. He appeared in nine games, going 5-2 with a 2.60 ERA, a 1.12 WHIP, and 47 strikeouts in 55.1 innings. He’s in his tenth big league season, having appeared in 189 games with 177 of those coming as starts. He is 64-63 with a 4.15 ERA, a 1.22 WHIP, and 880 strikeouts in 1020.1 innings. He finished sixth in Cy Young voting with the Rays in 2023.

Colin Selby

Selby this spring appeared in one game, going 0.2 innings, giving up four runs on one hit; he walked two and didn’t record a strikeout. Last season, he spent time with the Royals and Orioles as well as pitching in their minor league systems along with the Pirates system. He made five appearances in the majors, posting a 2.57 ERA, a 1.00 WHIP, and five strikeouts in seven innings. In the minors, he appeared in 38 games, going 2-3 with a 4.85 ERA, a 1.31 WHIP, and 54 strikeouts in 39 innings.
