The Baltimore Orioles wrapped up the first half leading the American League East and have the second-best record in the American League trailing the Cleveland Guardians by a half-game. In the MLB Draft last night they came away with some talent to an already deep farm system as they first selected outfielder Vance Honeycutt out of North Carolina with the 22nd overall pick, then in the prospect promotion round they selected shortstop Griff O’Ferrall from Virginia, and finally in round two with the 61st overall pick they took catcher Ethan Anderson also out of Virginia.
OF – Vance Honeycutt – North Carolina Tar Heels
Honeycutt in three seasons at North Carolina he played in 176 games hitting .293 with a 1.050 OPS; he had 30 doubles, seven triples, 65 home runs, 170 RBI, 205 runs scored, 126 walks, and 76 stolen bases. In his first season, he played in 64 games hitting .296 with a 1.082 OPS; he had ten doubles, four triples, 25 home runs, 57 RBI, 66 runs scored, 29 stolen bases, and 41 walks. In his second season, he played in 50 games hitting .257 with a .910 OPS; he had seven doubles, one triple, 12 home runs, 43 RBI, 51 runs scored, 19 stolen bases, and 49 walks. C – Ethan Anderson – Virginia Cavaliers
