The Atlanta Braves are off today and will start a series against the Minnesota Twins tomorrow. Today, they recalled Alex Verdugo from Triple-A Gwinnett and optioned Bryan De La Cruz. Verdugo signed with the Braves on March 20th. He played in nine games at Triple-A, hitting .207 with a .751 OPS. Verdugo had a double, two home runs, four RBI, eight runs scored, a stolen base, and four walks. De La Cruz, in 16 games with the Braves, hit .191 with a .453 OPS. He had a double, a run scored, a stolen base, and three walks.

Alex Verdugo

Verdugo spent his first three seasons with the Dodgers, hitting .282 with a .784 OPS. He had 28 doubles, two triples, 14 home runs, 49 RBI, and 55 runs scored. The Dodgers traded him to the Boston Red Sox in the trade for Mookie Betts. Verdugo spent four seasons with the Red Sox, where he hit .281 with a .761 OPS. He had 124 doubles, eight triples, 43 home runs, 206 RBI, and 280 runs scored. The Red Sox then traded him to the New York Yankees last offseason. In 149 games, he hit .233 with a .647 OPS. Verdugo had 28 doubles, a triple, 13 home runs, 61 RBI, and 74 runs scored. In the Yankees’ postseason run, he played in 14 games, hitting .208 with a .622 OPS. Verdugo had two doubles, a home run, eight RBI, and six runs scored.

Bryan De La Cruz

De La Cruz, in 491 career games, is a .251 hitter with a .698 OPS. He has 85 doubles, two triples, 58 home runs, 208 RBI, 177 runs scored, 15 stolen bases, and 109 walks. Last season, with Miami and Pittsburgh, he played in 149 games, hitting .233 with a .654 OPS. He had 25 doubles, 21 home runs, 68 RBI, 61 runs scored, five stolen bases, and 29 walks.
