The Atlanta Braves wrap up their series with the Toronto Blue Jays. First pitch is at 1:07 PM EST. The Braves will have Spencer Strider making his return today as he will face Chris Bassitt. The Braves are activating Stider off the injured list and are optioning Zach Thompson to Triple-A Gwinnett. Strider, during his rehab, made three starts, going 1-0 with a 1.32 ERA, a 0.73 WHIP, and 27 strikeouts in 13.2 innings. In his last outing, he was dominant, going 5.1 innings, giving up one run on three hits. He walked two but struck out 13. Strider retired 16 of his outs via strikeout.

Spencer Strider

Strider, last season in two starts, posted a 7.00 ERA, a 1.67 WHIP, and 12 strikeouts in nine innings. His season came to an end as he underwent UCL surgery. He’s made 67 appearances with the Braves, with 54 of those coming as starts over four seasons. He is 32-10 with a 3.47 ERA, a 1.07 WHIP, and 495 strikeouts in 329.2 innings. He finished second in Rookie of the Year voting in 2022. Strider was also an All-Star in 2023 and finished fourth in Cy Young voting. He went 20-5 with a 3.86 ERA, a 1.09 WHIP, and 281 strikeouts in 186.2 innings.

Zach Thompson

Thompson, this season in two games with the Braves, hasn’t allowed a run or a hit. He’s walked one and struck out three in 3.2 innings. Last season, in the Blue Jays system, he made 25 starts, going 6-6 with a 4.49 ERA, a 1.39 WHIP, and 82 strikeouts in 108.1 innings.
