The Atlanta Braves are coming off a 3-2 win over the Boston Red Sox yesterday to improve to 7-5 this spring in Grapefruit League play. Today they take on the Pittsburgh Pirates with Max Fried on the mound making his second start of the spring, in his first start he went two innings and struck out two. Today the Braves send two players to Triple-A and one to minor league camp, with the moves 42 players remain at camp.

Braves Roster Moves By The Numbers
Ray Kerr
Kerr this spring has appeared in five games posting a 5.79 ERA, a 1.71 WHIP, and eight strikeouts in 4.2 innings. Kerr was acquired by the Braves on December 15, 2023, from the San Diego Padres where he appeared in 22 games last season going 1-1 with a 4.33 ERA, a 1.25 WHIP, and 35 strikeouts in 27 innings.
J.P. Martinez
Martinez this spring played in eight games, and he hit .133 with a .435 OPS; he had one double, two runs scored, and one walk. Martinez was acquired by the Braves on January 26th from the Texas Rangers, last season with Texas he hit .225 with a .575 OPS; he had a double, a home run, four RBI, seven runs scored, and two walks in 17 games.
Ken Giles
Giles signed with the Braves on February 2nd as he’s trying to make a comeback. He hasn’t pitched since July 8, 2022, when he was with the Seattle Mariners. This spring he has appeared in three games posting a 3.00 ERA, a 1.33 WHIP, and five strikeouts in three innings. He had two appearances where he didn’t allow a run or a hit but on Thursday against the Red Sox, he gave up a run and a hit in one inning of work.
