Texas Rangers Double-A Affiliate Throws Combined No-Hitter

The Texas Rangers‘ Double-A affiliate, the Frisco RoughRiders, are 18-11 this season. This afternoon, they faced the San Antonio Missions, the Double-A affiliate of the San Diego Padres. The RoughRiders threw a combined no-hitter against the Missions in a 6-1 win. Frisco used three pitchers with Kohl Drake getting the start, then Ryan Lobus, and Skylar Hales pitched in relief. Drake is the Rangers’ 12th prospect in their system. He went six shutout innings, giving up two walks, and he struck out six. Lobus gave up the lone run as he went 1.1 innings, walking three and striking out one. He would leave with the bases loaded, being replaced by Hales, and he hit the first batter he faced, allowing the lone run to score. Hales finished going 1.2 innings, walking one and striking out two.

Frisco RoughRiders Scoring

The RoughRiders got the scoring started in the first as Keybar Rodriguez doubled home Alejandro Osuna. Aaron Zavala later scored in the inning on a wild pitch to make it 2-0. Osuna is the Rangers’ sixth overall prospect. In the top of the second, Cameron Cauley made it 3-0 with a solo home run, his second of the season. Cauley is Texas’s 18th overall prospect. Frisco tacked on another run in the top of the fourth on an RBI groundout by Tucker Mitchell that brought home Cauley. In the top of the fifth, the RoughRiders added two more runs. The first on a Keybar Rodriguez triple that brought home Zavala. Then Abimelec Ortiz singled home Rodriguez to make it 6-0. Ortiz is the Rangers’ 13th overall prospect. The Missions would score in the eighth, and the final would be 6-1, RoughRiders.
