St. Louis Cardinals Roster Transactions | Inside The Diamonds

The St. Louis Cardinals start a three-game series with the Seattle Mariners tonight. The Cardinals are 4-2 to start September, averaging 3.2 runs per game while allowing 4.3 runs per game. Ahead of tonight’s game, the Cardinals designated Garrett Hampson for assignment to make room for Alec Burleson, who returned from the injured list. Also, the Cardinals added left-handed pitcher Nick Raquet to the 40-man roster and selected his contract while optioning right-handed pitcher Andre Granillo to Triple-A Memphis.

Garrett Hampson

Hampson, in 35 games for the Cardinals, hit .103 with a .271 OPS. He had a double, an RBI, nine runs scored, a stolen base, and a walk. He also appeared in 27 games with the Reds and Diamondbacks, hitting .167 with a double, ten runs scored, two stolen bases, and ten walks.

Alec Burleson

Burleson, in 122 games this season, hit .286 with a .788 OPS. He has 21 doubles, a triple, 16 home runs, 60 RBI, 47 runs scored, five stolen bases, and 34 walks.

Nick Raquet

Raquet this season has appeared in 36 games between Double-A and Triple-A. He is 10-4 with eight saves, a 1.68 ERA, a 1.06 WHIP, and 57 strikeouts in 48.1 innings.

Andre Granillo

Granillo, in 14 games for the Cardinals, went 1-0. He had a save, a 4.71 ERA, a 1.38 WHIP, and 18 strikeouts in 21 innings. In 24 games at Triple-A, he went 5-0 with two saves, a 1.50 ERA, a 0.86 WHIP, and 53 strikeouts in 36 innings.
