The Springfield Cardinals, the Double-A affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals, clinched a playoff spot for the second consecutive season as they won the first half. Springfield finished the first half 43-26 and on a five-game winning streak, claiming the spot with a six-game lead. The Cardinals were eliminated in the first round last season.
