Shota Imanaga Leaves Start after Suffering Injury

Shota Imanaga Leaves game after injury

The Chicago Cubs headed into play today looking for a sweep of the Milwaukee Brewers. They had their ace on the mound, and the offense had been crushing the ball of late. Shota was removed from the game in the bottom of the sixth inning. He was running over to cover first base on a ground ball. Imanaga left the game after 5.2 innings, allowing four hits, two runs, and striking out four. The Cubs have already lost Justin Steele for the year due to a left elbow injury. Now they will have to wait and see the severity of his injury. The Cubs sit atop the NL Central with a 21-13 record before the end of Sunday’s game. Losing Imanaga for any length of time would test the team’s starting pitching depth. The Cubs’ offense has been great to start the year. However, managing a significant injury could be tough with the current pitching staff.
