The San Francisco Giants enter the weekend series against the Chicago White Sox with a 44-37 record. They are six and a half games back from the Dodgers in the NL West. After being swept by the Marlins, the Giants need a bounce-back series. They must avoid losing more ground to the Dodgers in the division. The Padres are a half game ahead of them in the Wild Card standings. Today, before the series opener, the San Francisco Giants have announced two roster moves. They have swapped bullpen arms. They called one up from Triple-A. While optioning another back to Sacramento to make room on the roster.

Seymour Recalled from Triple-A

Carson Seymour was recalled by the San Francisco Giants today ahead of their series opener with the Chicago White Sox. This will be his Major League Debut. The 26-year-old will potentially get his first action over the weekend against the Chicago White Sox. While in Triple-A this year, he has a 3-8 record in 15 starts. Seymour has a 3.89 ERA, 1.35 WHIP, and held opposing batters to a .228 batting average.

Hjelle Sent to Triple-A

The San Francisco Giants have optioned Sean Hjelle to Triple-A. He will continue his season with the Sacramento River Cats. In nine games pitched this year, including one start, Hjelle has one win and one loss on the year. Hjelle has a 6.75 ERA after working 12 innings for the Giants. While with the River Cats this season, he has three wins and one loss in 18 games of relief. Hjelle has a 2.97 ERA in 30 and one-third innings pitched in Triple-A.
