New York Mets Roster Transactions | Inside The Diamonds

The New York Mets wrap up their series with the Cleveland Guardians this afternoon. The Mets are looking to avoid being swept by the Guardians after dropping the first two games of the series. Both losses to Cleveland were one-run losses, and it’s their third one-run loss in their last five games. The Mets are 1-4 to start August and are averaging 5.4 runs per game, but are allowing 6.4 runs per game. Ahead of today’s finale, the Mets recalled right-handed pitcher Justin Hagenman from Triple-A Syracuse. They are optioning right-handed pitcher Dom Hamel to Syracuse. The Mets are also sending left-handed pitcher Brandon Waddell on a rehab assignment.

Justin Hagenman

Hagenman has played in four games this season. He started in one of those games for the Mets. He is 0-1 with a 5.11 ERA, a 1.22 WHIP, and 13 strikeouts in 12.1 innings. In 16 games at Triple-A, with nine of those coming as starts, he is 2-2. He posts a 4.99 ERA, a 1.11 WHIP, and 57 strikeouts in 52.1 innings.

Dom Hamel

Hamel didn’t appear for the Mets during his call-up. In 22 games at Triple-A, with eight of those coming as starts, he is 4-5 with a 4.73 ERA, a 1.26 WHIP, and 59 strikeouts in 53.1 innings.

Brandon Waddell

Waddell has been out since the middle of July with right hip impingement. In ten games for the Mets, with one of those coming as a start, he posted a 4.00 ERA, a 1.30 WHIP, and 18 strikeouts in 27 innings. He has appeared in 12 minor league games on rehab. Nine of those appearances came as starts. He has a 2-3 record and a 3.07 ERA, a 1.34 WHIP, and 41 strikeouts in 44 innings.
