The Minnesota Twins open a three-game series against the Los Angeles Angels tonight. The Twins are coming off a series win over the Chicago White Sox, taking two of three. The Twins are 5-5 in their last ten games and are averaging 3.5 runs per game while allowing 3.6 runs per game. Ahead of today’s game, the Twins are six games back of the Detroit Tigers for first place in the American League Central, and they are 4.5 games back of the final wild card spot in the American League.

Today, they are getting back left-handed pitcher Pablo Lopez, and he will start tonight against the Angels. Lopez is 1-1 with a 1.62 ERA, a 1.02 WHIP, and 14 strikeouts in 16.2 innings. In his rehab start, he went 4.2 innings, giving up a run on three hits. He didn’t walk anyone and struck out four. This comes after they sent right-handed pitcher David Festa down. Festa made three starts, posting a 1.38 ERA, a 1.31 WHIP, and 15 strikeouts in 13 innings.

Pablo Lopez

The Twins acquired Lopez in the Luis Arraez trade before the 2023 season. He made 32 starts that year, going 11-8 with a 3.66 ERA, a 1.16 WHIP, and 234 strikeouts in 194 innings. He was an All-Star and finished seventh in Cy Young voting. Last season, in 32 starts, he went 15-10 with a 4.08 ERA, a 1.19 WHIP, and 198 strikeouts in 185.1 innings.
