The Los Angeles Angels picked up a win in their series finale today 3-0 behind a stellar pitching performance by Jack Kochanowicz who went six shutout innings giving up five hits; he didn’t issue a walk and struck out four. The Angels offense was paced by Zach Neto who hit a two-run home run in the top of the fifth, the other run was driven in by Mickey Moniak who doubled home Anthony Rendon in top of the fourth to get the scoring started. Right before the game ended news broke that the Angels were calling up their top prospect Caden Dana and Sam Aldegheri. Aldegheri was acquired at the trade deadline from the Philadelphia Phillies in the trade that sent Carlos Estevez to Philadelphia, Aldegheri will be the first pitcher born and raised in Italy to play in the MLB.
RHP – Caden Dana
Dana was drafted by the Angels in the 11th round of the 2022 MLB Draft, and he’s been stellar this season in the minors, he’s pitched at Double-A Rocket City all season making 23 starts going 9-7 with a 2.52 ERA, a 0.94 WHIP, a 2.6 BB/9, and a 9.8 K/9 in 135.2 innings. His last start came on Sunday in which he got the win going six innings giving up one unearned run on five hits; he didn’t issue a walk and struck out seven. Dana also pitched at the Futures Game this season going one inning giving up one run on two hits; he didn’t issue a walk and struck out one.
LHP – Sam Aldegheri
Aldegheri since joining the Angeles has also pitched at Rocket City making four starts going 0-2 with a 5.19 ERA, a 1.44 WHIP, a 4.7 BB/9, and a 13.0 K/9 in 17.1 innings. This season between the Phillies and Angels systems he’s made 19 starts going 6-9 with a 3.59 ERA, a 1.15 WHIP, a 3.9 BB/9, and a 12.7 K/9 in 95.1 innings.
