The Detroit Tigers wrapped up a series against the Seattle Mariners and they swept the series outscoring them 20-4 in the three game. this season hasn’t gone exactly to plan but some excitement is coming as they have called up two prospects in infielder Jace Jung as well as shortstop Trey Sweeney who was acquired from the Dodgers at the trade deadline.
Detroit Tigers Moves By The Numbers
INF – Jace Jung
Jung was drafted 12th overall by the Tigers in the 2022 MLB Draft out of Texas Tech. He started his Tigers tenure at High-A West Michigan where he played in 30 games hitting .232 with a .706 OPS; he had six doubles, a triple, a home run, 13 RBI, 16 runs scored, one stolen base, and 25 walks. Last season he played at West Michigan and made the jump to Double-A Erie, he combined to play in 128 games hitting .265 with a .878 OPS; he had 27 doubles, two triples, 28 home runs, 82 RBI, 74 runs scored, five stolen bases, and 79 walks. This season he made another jump, starting the season at Triple-A Toledo, and in 91 games this season he is hitting .257 with a .831 OPS; he has 23 doubles, one triple, 14 home runs, 60 RBI, 50 runs scored, two stolen bases, and 67 walks. Now he will make his big league debut.
SS – Trey Sweeney
Sweeney since joining the Tigers has played in 11 games hitting .381 with a 1.114 OPS; he has six doubles, two home runs, nine RBI, nine runs scored, four stolen bases, and five walks.
