Detroit Tigers Roster Moves 6/5

Detroit Tigers Roster Transactions | Inside The Diamonds

The Detroit Tigers are playing the final game of their three-game series against the Texas Rangers right now and have currently secured at least a series win while looking for a series sweep despite being down currently. Yesterday the Tigers got RHP Shelby Miller back to their bullpen and with that, they optioned RHP Mason Englert to Toledo. Today they announced that RHP Alex Faedo was heading to the injured list due to right hip inflammation and then recalled Englert. After all of that, they now lost RHP Kenta Maeda who left tonight’s game after just two pitches with right-side abdominal discomfort.

Tigers Roster Moves By The Numbers

RHP – Shelby Miller

Miller in his first season with Detroit after signing a one-year year deal had appeared in 16 games going 3-4 with a 4.08 ERA, a 3.93 FIP, a 0.96 WHIP, and 18 strikeouts in 17.2 innings. He pitched yesterday going 1.1 innings, he didn’t allow a run, a hit, or a walk and struck out three.

RHP – Alex Faedo

Faedo who typically is a starter but because of the amount of starting pitching the Tigers have has become an arm that Detroit relies on out of their bullpen, this season in 21 games he is 3-1 with a 3.38 ERA, a 4.46 FIP, a 1.18 WHIP, and 29 strikeouts in 34.2 innings.

RHP – Mason Englert

Englert in his second season with Detroit in four games is 1-0 with a 4.50 ERA, a 4.63 FIP, a 1.00 WHIP, and five strikeouts in six innings. At Toledo, he’s appeared in 17 games going 3-0 with a 2.35 ERA, a 1.08 WHIP, and 34 strikeouts in 23 innings.

RHP – Kenta Maeda

Maeda in the first year of his two-year deal with Detroit is 2-2 with a 6.25 ERA, a 5.84 FIP, a 1.41 WHIP, and 30 strikeouts in 40.1 innings. Hopefully, it’s nothing serious but if he does land on the injured list expect either Keider Montero or Matt Manning to take his spot in the rotation.
