Detroit Tigers Prospect Check-In: Week 1

The Detroit Tigers have kicked off their Grapefruit League schedule starting with a matchup against the Yankees on Saturday which they lost 22-10.  On Sunday they tied the Tampa Bay Rays 9-9. On Monday they beat the Houston Astros 4-0. The Tigers on Tuesday had a split squad day with a matchup against the Orioles and the Blue Jays, the Tigers lost to the Orioles 5-2 and beat the Blue Jays 6-4. After the first half week of Spring Training, they are 2-2.

OF – Max Clark

Clark is not playing for the Tigers at Lakeland.

2B/3B – Colt Keith

Keith has played in three games and has a three-game hitting streak, leading to him hitting .333 with a 1.000 OPS; he is 3-8 with two doubles, and four RBI. He currently leads the team in RBI through the first five games of spring.

RHP – Jackson Jobe

Jobe is not playing for the Tigers at Lakeland.

2B – Jace Jung

Jung in three games is 0-3 with an RBI, a run, a walk, and a hit by pitch. He is hitting .000 with a .333 OPS.

RHP – Wilmer Flores

Flores has appeared in one game coming on Sunday against the Rays and he struggled going 0.2 innings giving up four runs on four hits; he had one strikeout.

RHP – Ty Madden

Madden made his debut yesterday against the Orioles and he pitched well going 1.2 innings giving up two hits, and he didn’t allow a run; he walked two and struck out two.

OF – Justyn Henry Malloy

Malloy has played in three games and is currently hitting .250 with a .958 OPS going 2-8 with a home run, an RBI, and a walk.

INF – Kevin McGonigle

McGonigle is not playing for the Tigers at Lakeland.

OF – Parker Meadows

Meadows has played in two games, and he is hitting .333 with a .833 OPS; he is 2-6 with a double, and a run scored.  

 C – Dillon Dingler

Dingler has played in three games, and he is hitting .500 with a 1.167 OPS; he went 2-4 with three runs scored, a walk, and a hit by pitch.

Week Ahead:

The Detroit Tigers coming up will face the Pittsburgh Pirates on Wednesday, then the Boston Red Sox on Thursday. Then March begins and they will take on the Philadelphia Phillies on Friday, the Pirates again on Saturday, then the New York Yankees on Sunday. They wrap up the next two days against the Red Sox on Monday and the Atlanta Braves on Tuesday.
