Detroit Tigers Minor League Affiliate Throw Combined No-Hitter

The Detroit Tigers took the middle game of their three-game series and will look to finish off a sweep of the Toronto Blue Jays today. Their Double-A affiliate the Erie Seawolves took on the Binghamton Rumble Ponies the Double-A affiliate of the New York Mets and pitched a combined no-hitter behind Jackson Jobe who is the Tigers second-ranked prospect and the 13th-ranked prospect by ITD, Jake Higginbotham, Matt Seelinger, and Garrett Hill. Last night was Jobe’s eighth start of the season at Erie as he’s working his way back from an injury. He would go six innings walking two and striking out five; he is now 2-1 with a 1.38 ERA, a 0.86 WHIP, and 45 strikeouts in 32.2 innings. The other three relievers would each go one inning combining for one walk and five strikeouts. 

The Seawolves won 3-0. Jake Holton drove home the first run as he reached on a throwing error allowing Gage Workman to score. In the Top of the third Holton did it again as he drove home Austin Murr on a sacrifice fly. Eliezer Alfonzo would hit a solo home run in the Top of the ninth to complete the scoring. 

The Seawolves will look to win their series over Binghamton today after dropping Friday night’s game and winning yesterday. Erie has already clinched a playoff spot as they won the first half of the season, they are currently 12-8 in the second half and two games back of the Akron RubberDucks.
