The Cincinnati Reds play the middle game of their three-game series against the Chicago Cubs tonight. The Reds took the first game of the series last night, 3-2, to improve to 2-1 in August. The Reds are averaging 2.7 runs per game while allowing 2.7 runs per game. Cincinnati, ahead of tonight’s game, placed left-handed pitcher Nick Lodolo on the 15-day injured list with a left finger blister. To replace Lodolo on the roster, they are recalling right-handed pitcher Yosver Zulueta from Triple-A Louisville.

Lodolo this season in 23 starts is 8-6 with a 3.05 ERA, a 3.71 FIP, a 1.03 WHIP, and 124 strikeouts in 129.2 innings. The Cincinnati Reds drafted him seventh overall in the 2019 MLB Draft. He made his debut in 2022. In four seasons in the big leagues, he’s made 70 starts, going 23-20 with a 4.02 ERA, a 4.02 FIP, a 1.21 WHIP, and 424 strikeouts in 382.2 innings. He finished sixth in Rookie of the Year voting in 2022.

Yosver Zulueta

Zulueta, this season, has made two appearances with the Reds, posting a 3.86 ERA, a 3.54 FIP, a 0.43 WHIP, and a strikeout in 2.1 innings. In 33 games at Triple-A Louisville, he went 2-1 with a 3.86 ERA, a 1.19 WHIP, and 22 strikeouts in 42 innings. Zulueta has appeared in 14 career big league games. He has a 4.82 ERA, a 1.23 WHIP, and 21 strikeouts in 18.2 innings.
