Chicago White Sox Roster Moves

Chicago White Sox Roster Transactions | Inside The Diamonds

The Chicago White Sox are 1-7 on the season. They opened the year getting swept by division rival Detroit Tigers, then split a two-game series with The Atlanta Braves. They have lost the first three games in a four-game set with the Kansas City Royals. After this series with the Royals, they head to Cleveland to play the Guardians, another divisional foe. Before yesterday’s game, the White Sox announced a handful of moves to the roster.

OF – Luis Robert JR

Roberts was placed on the 10-day injured list with a right hip flexor strain. Hopefully, the All-Star center fielder can bounce back quickly because this team is short on talent without him in the lineup. On the year he has played in 7 games with two doubles, three runs scored, two home runs, and four RBIs, and has been slashing .214/.241/.500 with a .741 OPS. Roberts bit 38 home runs last year with 80 RBIs and stole 20 bases.

3B – Lenyn Sosa

The White Sox recalled Sosa from the Charlotte Knights. On the year at triple-A, Sosa has two doubles, one home run, and three RBIs and was slashing .333/.448/.542 with a .990 OPS through six games with Charlotte. He was in the lineup for the White Sox immediately and got three at-bats Saturday, going 1-3 on the day.

RHP – Alex Speas

The White Sox traded Speas to the Oakland Athletics for cash. Speas has appeared in two games with the Triple-A Charlotte Knights during the season. He has pitched 2.1 innings, giving up two hits, four earned runs, one home run, two walks, and two strikeouts. His ERA is 15.43 in two games, and he has a 1.71 WHIP.

Wrap Up:

While the White Sox are off to a horrid start to the year at 1-7, they hope to get Eloy Jimenez and Roberts Jr. back in the lineup soon. The White Sox have also added Mike Clevinger back to the rotation after pitching for the team last year. With the return of Roberts and Jimenez, the White Sox will hope to get things back on track and try to compete in the wide-open AL Central.
