They face the NL Central leading Milwaukee Brewers. The Brewers hold a nine-game lead over the Cubs in the Central right now. The Cubs do hold the top wild card spot as play starts today. They hold a two and a half game lead over the Padres for the top spot. Before today’s doubleheader, the Chicago Cubs announced three roster moves. They have optioned two pitchers to Triple-A Iowa and recalled one pitcher from Iowa in return.

Luke Little

The Chicago Cubs have optioned the left-handed pitcher to Triple-A today before their doubleheader with the Brewers. Little has appeared in two games this year for the Cubs. He last pitched yesterday when he threw two and two-thirds innings against the Brewers. He walked two, struck out four, and gave up one hit. Little will return to the Iowa Cubs and finish out his season.

Tom Cosgrove

The Chicago Cubs have recalled left-handed pitcher Tom Cosgrove from Triple-A today ahead of game one with the Brewers. Cosgrove has already pitched in two games this season for the Cubs. He has a 2.25 ERA, a 1.00 WHIP, and three strikeouts in four innings pitched.

Gavin Hollowell

Gavin Hollowell has been optioned back to Triple-A today before their doubleheader with the Brewers. Hollowell has appeared in seven games this year for the Cubs. He has a 4.82 ERA. 1.71 WHIP, and 10 strikeouts. He will return to the Iowa Cubs to continue his season.
