In the first inning, one of the Guardians top prospects in outfielder Chase DeLauter, who has gotten off to a hot start, left the game after fouling a ball off his leg. DeLauter is off to a hot start this season. Entering tonight, in five games, he was hitting .286 with a 1.175 OPS. DeLauter had four home runs, five RBI, and five runs scored. He entered the season as the 46th prospect in all of baseball, and his first week of the 2026 season showed why. CJ Kayfus replaced DeLauter.

The Guardians drafted DeLauter 16th overall in the 2022 MLB Draft out of James Madison University. He has played in 138 minor league games for the Guardians, hitting .302 with a .888 OPS. He had 40 doubles, a triple, 20 home runs, 87 RBI, 88 runs scored, and eight stolen bases. Last season, he spent time at Triple-A and rookie ball, where in 42 games as he came back from an injury, he hit .264 with an .852 OPS. He had eight doubles, a triple, seven home runs, 24 RBI, 28 runs scored, and a stolen base. A majority of that came at Triple-A, where in 34 games he hit .278 with an .859 OPS. He had all eight doubles, the triple, and five of the seven home runs there. He had 21 RBI and 25 runs scored there, with the stolen base coming in rookie ball.
