Candelario, Finnegan Receiving Heavy Trade Interest

Third Baseman Jeimer Candelario and right-handed reliever Kyle Finnegan have received the most trade interest as the Tuesday deadline approaches. Mike Rizzo spoke with SiriusXM about these two players and has almost solidified the chances of Finnegan and Candelario being shipped off. Mike Rizzo stated that the Nationals have received interest and phone calls from eight different clubs for their third baseman. Rizzo states that nothing has been set in stone yet, but if a deal included any player to the Nationals’ liking, they would get a deal done ASAP. Candelario is a rental for the rest of the 2023 season and will head to a team looking toward the postseason.

As for Finnegan, Rizzo spoke and said Finnegan has received “a lot of hits” on the right-hander. Kyle Finnegan will be more than a rental, as there are still two years left of his contract. Finnegan will receive heavier offers due to a longer-term contract. Finnegan started the season rough but has been lights out over the past two months. Pitching to a 1.91 ERA over the last 30 games. Finnegan’s asking price is surely to be higher.
