Boston Red Sox Down on the Farm 6/24-6/30

The Boston Red Sox Triple-A affiliate in Worcester took on the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders and took three of the five games in their series. Their Double-A affiliate took on the Binghamton Rumble Ponies and they took three of five games. The High-A affiliate the Greenville Drive took on the Hickory Crawdads and split their series. Their Single-A affiliate the Salem Red Sox took on the Fredericksburg Nationals and they were able to win two of the six games.

Boston Red Sox Top 10 Prospects Recap

SS – Marcelo Mayer – Portland Sea Dogs

Mayer went 5-18 last week with a home run, two RBI, four runs scored, two walks, and a stolen base. He is hitting .307 with a .850 OPS; he has seven home runs, and 36 RBI.

OF – Roman Anthony – Portland Sea Dogs

Anthony last week went 2-16 with a home run, four RBI, one run scored, and two walks. This season he is hitting .245 with a .803 OPS; he has eight home runs, and 24 RBI.

C – Kyle Teel – Portland Sea Dogs

Teel last week went 4-16 with three RBI, and one run scored. This season he is hitting .303 with a .860 OPS; he has eight home runs, and 48 RBI.

OF – Miguel Bleis – Greenville Drive

Bleis last week went 2-20 with an RBI, and two runs scored. This season he is hitting .231 with a .663 OPS; he has four home runs, and 25 RBI. Since being called up to Greenville he is hitting, .140 with a .374 OPS; he has a double, three RBI.

RHP – Wikelman Gonzalez – Portland Sea Dogs

Gonzalez got the start on Friday going three shutout innings giving up one hit; he walked two and struck out three. This season he is 3-2 with a 7.38 ERA, a 1.62 WHIP, and 49 strikeouts in 42.2 innings.

2B – Nick Yorke – Worcester Red Sox

Yorke last week went 5-17 with a double, four runs scored, one walk, and two stolen bases. Since being promoted he is hitting .342 with a .929 OPS; he has two home runs, and ten RBI.

RHP – Luis Perales – Portland Sea Dogs

Perales is done for the season after undergoing Tommy John surgery. This season he is 2-2 with a 2.94 ERA, a 1.31 WHIP, and 56 strikeouts in 33.2 innings.

SS – Yoeilin Cespedes – Salem Red Sox

Cespedes got moved up to Single-A Salem, and hasn’t appeared in a game yet. This season he is hitting .319 with a 1.015 OPS; he has five home runs, and 24 RBI.

RHP – Richard Fitts – Worcester Red Sox

Fitts got the ball on Friday going five innings giving up four runs on seven hits; he walked two and struck three. He is 5-2 with a 4.11 ERA, a 1.32 WHIP, and 62 strikeouts in 65.2 innings.

SS/2B – Mikey Romero – Greenville Drive

Romero last week went 4-21 with two triples, two RBI, and two runs scored. This season he is hitting .239 with a .673 OPS; he has two home runs, and 12 RBI.
