Atlanta Braves Claim Infielder

The Atlanta Braves play the second game of an odd five-game series against the Miami Marlins tonight. This afternoon, they claimed infielder Vidal Bruján off waivers from the Baltimore Orioles. The Orioles designated him for assignment after claiming him off waivers on August 3rd. Bruján this season appeared in 36 games for the Chicago Cubs, hitting .222 with a .523 OPS. He had three doubles, three RBI, six runs scored, two stolen bases, and a walk. In his lone game with Baltimore, he went 1-1. He also played in three games at Triple-A Iowa for the Cubs, hitting .308 with a .692 OPS. He had a double and a stolen base.

Vidal Bruján

The 27-year-old infielder has spent time in the Cubs, Tampa Bay Rays, and Miami Marlins minor league systems. He hit .286 with a .799 OPS in 629 games. He had 135 doubles, 36 triples, 48 home runs, 253 RBI, 484 runs scored, 241 stolen bases, and 296 walks. Bruján hit .193 with a .533 OPS in 238 big league games. He has 24 doubles, two triples, five home runs, 43 RBI, 68 runs scored, 16 stolen bases, and 43 walks. Bruján was a former top-100 prospect in baseball, reaching as high as 45th in 2020.
