A Detroit Tigers Prospect Named Player of the Week for 8/13-8/18

The Detroit Tigers minor league affiliates last week combined to go 11-13 and were combined to post an even run differential as the affiliates scored 106 runs combined and their opponents also scored 106 runs. The Triple-A affiliate, the Toledo Mud Hens, the Double-A affiliate the Erie Seawolves, and the High-A affiliate the West Michigan Whitecaps each went 3-3. Toledo outscored their opponent 26-20, Erie was outscored 24-26 and West Michigan outscored their opponent 40-27. Single-A the Lakeland Flying Tigers dropped their series going 2-4 and were outscored 16-33. The prospect who took home Player of the Week Honors was Thayron Liranzo who is playing with the Whitecaps and takes home Hitter of the Week Honors for the Midwest League. The Tigers acquired Liranzo in the Jack Flaherty trade from the Los Angeles Dodgers. Last week, he played in all six games collecting a hit in every game as he went 11-18 with three doubles, three home runs, eight RBI, nine runs scored, and nine walks. This season since joining the Tigers system he is hitting .396 with a 1.318 OPS; he has six doubles, four home runs, 13 RBI, 15 runs scored, and 16 walks. Combined between the two teams he’s played in 89 games hitting .247 with a .798 OPS; he has 21 doubles, 11 home runs, 43 RBI, 50 runs scored, 65 walks, and one stolen base.

C Thayron Liranzo Career

Liranzo was signed as an international free agent by the Dodgers, in his first season in the Los Angeles system he played for the Dodgers Dominican Summer League team playing in 21 games hitting .250 with a .746 OPS; he had four doubles, and one home run, nine RBI, 11 runs scored, three stolen bases, and 14 walks. In 2022 his second season he was at the Dodgers rookie ball team playing in 41 games hitting .237 with a .826 OPS; he had 11 doubles, one triple, eight home runs, 30 RBI, 23 runs scored, and 21 walks. Last season he played at Single-A playing in 94 games hitting .273 with a .962 OPS; he had 24 doubles, two triples, 24 home runs, 70 RBI, 81 runs scored, two stolen bases, and 70 walks.
