Probable Starting Pitchers

Game 1: Jack Kochanowicz (1-0, 3.27 ERA) vs. Ronel Blanco (0-1, 9.45 ERA)

After posting near identical stat lines in each of his two starts this season, Kochanowicz now has to work on limiting the number of walks he allows, and hopefully adding to his perfect record. Despite the inflated ERA, Blanco will try to shake off his disastrous last start when he only lasted 1.2 innings before being yanked with four ER.

Game 2: Tyler Anderson (0-0, 4.50 ERA) vs. Ryan Gusto (1-0, 1.13 ERA)

The 26-year-old Gusto, set to make his fifth ppappearanceearance of the season. Typically a bullpen arm, it will be interesting to see how the rookie handles the starting pitcher spotlight. Meanwhile, Anderson is out to repeat his last start. He only gave up one hit, while simultaneously cutting down on the four walks.

Game 3: Kyle Hendricks (0-0, 1.64 ERA) vs. Hayden Wesneski (0-1, 3.75 ERA)

Hendricks, the 35 year old journeyman, is a prime example of a pitcher’s win-loss ratio being deceptive. Carrying in a sterling sub-two ERA, the righty will try to lengthen his starts. Looking to build on his 7.0 strong innings against the Mariners in his last start, Wesneski will look to slow down the red hot Angels.

Player To Watch

Los Angeles Angels

Out to prove that catchers can rake too, Logan O’Hoppe is out to be more than a home run or bust catcher, although he has already smashed five long balls to add to his .359 batting average and his 1.144 OPS.

Houston Astros

Even after a recent position change to the outfield, Jose Altuve’s offense remains regular, and regular for him is at an elite level. Aging like fine wine, the 34 year old righty is currently obliterating baseballs everywhere, taking a .346 batting average and a.912 OPS into the series.
