The Seattle Mariners start a series with the Tampa Bay Rays today. It is now September, which means rosters expand. Each team will get to set their roster with 28 players, although the Mariners will have to play down one for a few more days while Victor Robles serves the final days of his suspension. Teams also can’t have more than 14 pitchers. Today, the Mariners called up top prospect Harry Ford and recalled Leo Rivas from Triple-A Tacoma. The Mariners also added Luke Jackson from the Tacoma Rainiers.

Harry Ford
In his first game played, Ford will make his major league debut. He has had a successful season with the Tacoma Rainiers, hitting .283 with an .868 OPS. Ford has 18 doubles, 16 home runs and seven stolen bases in 97 games this season. He is the No. 4 prospect in the Seattle Mariners organization and the No. 40 prospect in all of baseball (per MLB Pipeline).
Luke Jackson
The Mariners are adding veteran reliever Luke Jackson to their bullpen. They picked him up a week ago and placed him in Triple-A. Jackos has a 4.54 ERA in 42 appearances at the Major League level between the Texas Rangers and Detroit Tigers this season. He’s struck out 28 batters in 39.2 innings. With Tacoma, he had a 7.71 ERA in 2.1 innings.
Leo Rivas
The Seattle Mariners are also recalling veteran infielder Leo Rivas who has seen limited time with the big league squad over the course of the last two seasons. Rivas played 30 games with the Mariners earlier this season and he hit .283 with a .711 OPS. He had a double and four stolen bases. Rivas will likely come in and serve the utility role that Dylan Moore previously held. The 27-year-old hit .318 with a .978 OPS in Tacoma this season. He had eight doubles, two triples, 10 home runs and 24 stolen bases.
Sauryn Lao
The Mariners will designate Lao for assignment to make room on the 40-man roster. Lao made his MLB debut earlier this season. He has a 8.10 ERA in 3 1/3 innings of work at the Major League level. He has four strikeouts and one walk.
Donovan Solano
The Seattle Mariners are releasing Solano. The veteran infielder has struggled with the Mariners this season in a backup first baseman role. He’s hitting .252 with a .639 OPS. He has four doubles, a triple, three home runs, and 21 RBI.
