The Boston Red Sox appear to have found their next General Manager with the Championship Series’ about to conclude, they have offered the job to Craig Breslow, who will be tasked with replacing Chaim Bloom. Breslow is an Ivy League graduate from Yale University, majoring in molecular biophysics and biochemistry. He pitched for the Red Sox on two stints, pitching out of the bullpen in 2006. Then he returned in 2012 and was here until 2015; he won a World Series Championship with Boston in 2013.
Breslow played for 13 seasons in the majors and finished with a 23-30 record, a 3.45 ERA, a 2.23 FIP, a 1.33 WHIP, a 0.9 HR/9, a 3.6 BB/9, and a 7.0 K/9 in 576 games. He pitched for the Red Sox, Minnesota Twins, Oakland A’s, Cleveland Indians, Arizona Diamondbacks, San Diego Padres, and Miami Marlins.
He previously served as the Chicago Cubs Director of Strategic Initiatives in 2019; in 2020, he was the Special Assistant to the President and General Manager of the Cubs and most recently was the Assistant GM for the Cubs; he has been promoted three times in his career and will now receive his fourth promotion. He has his work cut out for him as the Red Sox have moves to make this offseason if they want to return to the postseason for the first time since 2021, but they now have someone leading the charge, with free agency starting as soon as November 1st and as late as November 5th. Nothing can be official until five days after the World Series ends.
