New York Mets Roster Transactions | Inside The Diamonds

The New York Mets have made three roster moves today as they continue to prepare their roster for Opening Day. The Mets beat the Miami Marlins today 6-3 in grapefruit League play. They faceoff against the Tigers tomorrow as they wind down their spring training schedule. They open the Regular season at home against the Milwaukee Brewers Thursday March 28th.

RHP – Jose Butto

The Mets optioned Butto to the Syracuse Mets today before the game. Jose appeared in four games this spring throwing 10 innings for the Mets. He went 1-0, had nine strikeouts, 0.90 ERA, and a 1.10 WHIP in his Grapefruit league action.

RHP – Louis Moreno

Moreno was assigned to the Mets roster today before the game. He pitched 1.1 innings recording four strikeouts, 0.00 ERA, and 3.75 WHIP in his limited action. Last year Moreno spent majority of his time with the Binghamton Rumble Ponies in the Eastern League Double AA. He appeared in 25 games with 21 starts last year pitching 119.1 innings. He finished his time at Double AA with a 9-6 record, 4.98 ERA and a 1.48 WHIP.

C – Carlos Oviedo

Oviedo was assigned to the Mets roster today as the team continues to make moves to get them ready for Opening Day. Oviedo being assigned to the roster gives them another body as camp winds down for the MLB club. Oviedo spent last season with the Mets in the Florida Complex League. He played in 25 games, had four doubles, three home runs, 12 RBIs, and slashed .190/.354/.397 last year.
