Brewers vs. Red Sox

First Three

Brilliant pitching performances led the first three innings by both starters. Garrett Crochet allowed two hits and four strikeouts. Jacob Misiorowski, on the other side for Milwaukee, struck out the first five batters he faced. In the first three innings, he allowed one base runner on a walk and struck out six.

Middle Three

Crochet in the middle innings allowed two base runners, one on a hit and one via a walk. He had three strikeouts. Misiorowski continued his dominance in the fourth. He started to lose it in the fifth but pitched his way out of it. In the sixth, the young ace lost it. He struck out Roman Anthony before walking Jarren Duran, Willson Contreras, and Wilyer Abreu. Milwaukee pulled him for Trevor Story. They turned to DL Hall, who allowed a double to Story, giving the Red Sox a 2-0 lead. Caleb Durbin, pinch-hitting for Marcelo Mayer, drove in Abreu on a groundout, making it 3-0 Red Sox as the inning came to a close.

Last Three

Crochet ran into his first issue in the seventh. He allowed a lead-off single, then recorded an out before allowing another single, then he walked Blake Perkins, loading the bases before hitting David Hamilton on a pitch to make it 3-1. The Red Sox then turned to Zack Kelly, who allowed another run as Christian Yelich grounded into a force out to make it 3-2. Garrett Whitock got the eighth, looking to rebound from last night, and he sent them down 1-2-3. The Red Sox didn’t add any insurance in the eighth and turned to Aroldis Chapman for the ninth. Chapman allowed a one-out walk to Sal Frelick but got a double play to end the game and give Boston a 3-2 win.

Player of the Game

Trevor Story went 1-4 as the Red Sox only had three hits in the game, but his double was clutch. He had two RBI.
