Five Rangers Prospects Named to the MLB Top 100 Prospects

Over the weekend, the Top 100 Prospects list was released for July, and the Texas Rangers had five names crack the list: two position players and three pitchers on the list. OF Evan Carter, who ranks sixth, RHP Owen White, who ranks 44th, SS/2B Luisangel Acuna, who ranks 45th, Brock Porter, who ranks 61st, and RHP Jack Leiter, who ranks 90th.

Rangers Prospects 2023 Season by the Numbers

OF – Evan Carter

Carter this season has played in a total of 64 games playing with the ACL Rangers on a rehab assignment and the Rangers AA affiliate, the Frisco RoughRiders. In his 64 games, he has posted a slash line of .295/.405/.450 with an OPS of .855. He has combined for 44 runs scored, eight doubles, two triples, nine home runs, 41 RBI, and 12 stolen bases. With the RoughRiders, where he has played in 61 games, he has 41 runs scored, seven doubles, two triples, eight home runs, 39 RBI, and 11 stolen bases. He has a slash line in AA of .298/.404/.442 and an OPS of .846.

RHP – Owen White

White this season has played for two minor league teams and has played with the Rangers as well. In the minors, he has played for the AA Frisco RoughRiders and the AAA affiliate, the Round Rock Express. He has started 16 games in the minors, going 3-3 with a 3.61 ERA in 72.1 innings of work and 57 strikeouts. He posts a 1.16 WHIP, a 4.1 BB/9, and a 7.1 K/9. With the Rangers, he has made one appearance going 0-1 with a 13.50 ERA in two innings of work. This season with AAA, he has made four starts; he is 1-0 with a 3.94 ERA; he posts a 1.31 WHIP, a 5.6 BB/9, and a 5.1 K/9.

SS/2B – Luisangel Acuna

Acuna has played the whole season with the Rangers AA affiliate, the Frisco RoughRiders, and in 75 games for them, he posts a slash line of .308/.369/.439 and an OPS of .808. In those 75 games, he has scored 59 runs, has 20 doubles, two triples, six home runs, 45 RBI, and 36 stolen bases.

RHP – Brock Porter

Porter has pitched the whole season for the Rangers Single-A affiliate, the Down East Wood Ducks. He has made 15 starts going 0-2 with a 2.57 ERA in 49 innings of work and 67 strikeouts. He posts a 1.22 WHIP, a 6.1 BB/9, and a 12.3 K/9.

RHP – Jack Leiter

Leiter was recently to the Development List to work on his mechanics. So far this season, he has pitched for the Rangers AA affiliate, the Frisco RoughRiders, and has made 15 starts going 2-5 with a 5.79 ERA, striking out 85 batters in 65.1 innings of work. He posts a 1.51 WHIP, a 5.9 BB/9, and an 11.7 K/9.
