Despite stepping away from playing baseball after the season wraps up over the weekend, Tigers’ long-time fan favorite Miguel Cabrera will remain with the Tigers organization as part of the team’s front office.
Usually, at this time of year, the headlines are filed with playoff news and award predictions. However, Miguel Cabrera is the main focus around all of baseball right now. His legendary career will come to an end this weekend, but his legacy will continue as a member of the Detroit Tigers front office.
Tigers hire Miguel Cabrera as Special Assistant to the President of Baseball Operations
Scott Harris is already making big moves, and the off-season isn’t even here yet. None of those moves have anything to do with the roster, but he has definitely bolstered Detroit’s front office ahead of what should be a very interesting off-season with the division in reach. A couple of weeks ago, Harris hired Jeff Greenberg as the Tigers General Manager. Harris worked with Greenberg in Chicago as part of the Cubs’ front office. Greenberg spent last season working with the Chicago Blackhawks of the NHL.
Now Detroit is adding someone who has loved this sport since the day he was born. Obviously, that someone is Miggy. Cabrera is going to be an amazing addition to the Tigers front office. That is starting to look like a really good group of people to build the Tigers’ roster.
Cabrera will play his final three games starting Friday night against the Guardians.
