Chicago Cubs Prospect Check-In: Week 2

The Chicago Cubs played the Milwaukee Brewers, Colorado Rockies, Chicago White Sox, Los Angeles Dodgers, Cleveland Guardians, San Diego Padres, and the Kansas City Royals this week. They went 3-4 last week beating the Brewers, White Sox, and Guardians. This past week, they lost to the Rockies, Dodgers, Padres, and the Royals.

OF – Pete Crow-Armstong

Crow-Armstrong played in six games this past week 1-14 with two stolen bases and two runs scored he is now hitting .190 for the Spring. This past week was not one the team was looking for, but let’s hope we see a better week this week from PCA.

P – Cade Horton

Horton is not pitching for the Cubs in Cactus League play.

OF – Owen Cassie

Cassie played in six games this past week and went 10-14 continuing to tear the cover off the baseball with one home run, one double, five more RBIs and four more runs scored. Cassie is now hitting .556 on the spring slugging .889 with an OPS of 1.508 over nine total games played.

1B – Michael Busch

Busch appeared in four games this week going 2-11 with one double, two runs scored, and two stolen bases. He is now batting .231 slugging .308 with an OPS of .683 over five total games played this spring.

OF – Kevin Alcantara

Alcantara played in two games this week going 1-5 with a home run, one run scored, and one RBI. He is now batting .182 and slugging .455 with an OPS of .636 over five total games played this spring in the Cactus League.

3B – Matt Shaw

Shaw played in six games this week going 2-10, with two runs scored, one double, and one RBI. Shaw is now hitting .238 in Cactus League play and slugging .429 with an OPS of .749 during the 10 games he’s appeared in.

2B – James Triantos

Triantos did not play this week for the Cubs

P – Jordan Wicks

Wicks started two games this week for the Cubs throwing 6.1 innings, giving up eight hits, one walk, one earned run, and striking out two. Wicks has now started three games this spring going 2-0 over 8 innings pitched with a 2.25 ERA in Cactus League play.

P – Ben Brown

Brown threw in two games this week and pitched four innings. He gave up three hits, one earned run, two walks, and four strikeouts. Brown has pitched in three games and has an ERA of 1.50 in Cactus League play so far for the year.

1B – Moises Ballesteros

Ballesteros appeared in two games and went 0-5 during his time this week. He remains hitless during Cactus League play.
