The Boston Red Sox minor league affiliates all failed to reach the postseason in 2024. The Triple-A affiliate in Worcester finished their season 79-71 and missed a chance at the postseason by 4.5 games. Double-A Portland finished 1.5 games out in the second half and finished their season with a 78-60 record which was the best in their division, but they didn’t claim the first half playoff spot or the second half. High-A Greenville finished the season 63-69. Finally, Single-A Salem finished their season going 70-62 finishing the first half 7.5 games back and the second half 3.5 games back. Now let’s see how the Top Ten prospects in their system by ITD performed this last month and this season.
Boston Red Sox Top 10 Prospects Recap
1.) OF – Roman Anthony – Worcester Red Sox
Anthony finished the season at Triple-A Worcester, he spent some of 2024 with Double-A Portland as well. He combined to finish between the two levels hitting .291 with a .894 OPS; he had 32 doubles, four triples, 18 home runs, 65 RBI, 93 runs scored, 79 walks, and 21 stolen bases. At Portland he played in 84 games hitting .269 with a .856 OPS; he had 20 doubles, three triples, 15 home runs, 45 RBI, 60 runs scored, 48 walks, and 16 stolen bases. At Worcester in 35 games he hit .344 with a .982 OPS; he had 12 doubles, a triple, three home runs, 20 RBI, 33 runs scored, 31 walks, and five stolen bases.
2.) SS – Marcelo Mayer – Worcester Red Sox
Mayer’s season ended early with an injury but he got to the call to Triple-A Worcester although he didn’t play in a game. At Portland this season in 77 games he hit .307 with a .850 OPS; he had 28 doubles, eight home runs, 38 RBI, 60 runs scored, 30 walks, and 13 stolen bases.
3.) C – Kyle Teel – Worcester Red Sox
Teel spent 2024 with Portland and Worcester playing in 112 games hitting .288 with an .819 OPS; he had 23 doubles, 13 home runs, 78 RBI, 88 runs scored, 68 walks, and 12 stolen bases. At Portland in 84 games he hit .298 with a .852 OPS; he had 20 doubles, 11 home runs, 60 RBI, 65 runs scored, 48 walks, and nine stolen bases. At Worcester in 28 games he hit .255 with a .717 OPS; he had three doubles, two home runs, 18 RBI, 23 runs scored, 20 walks, and three stolen bases.
4.) INF/OF – Kristian Campbell – Worcester Red Sox
Campbell jumped through not just the system but the rankings in 2024 finishing as the Red Sox fourth-ranked prospect and inside the Top 100. He played in 115 games between High-A Greenville, Double-A Portland, and Triple-A Worcester, he hit .330 with a .997 OPS; he had 32 doubles, three triples, 20 home runs, 77 RBI, 94 runs scored, 74 walks, and 24 stolen bases. At Greenville in 40 games, he hit .306 with a .976 OPS; he had 13 doubles, eight home runs, 25 RBI, 29 runs scored, 26 walks, and three stolen bases. At Portland in 56 games, he hit .362 with a 1.045 OPS; he had 17 doubles, three triples, eight home runs, 35 RBI, 48 runs scored, 35 walks, and 17 stolen bases. At Worcester in 19 games, he hit .286 with a .898 OPS; he had two doubles, four home runs, 17 RBI, 17 runs scored, 13 walks, and four stolen bases.
5.) OF –Braden Montgomery – FCL Red Sox
Montgomery didn’t play for the Red Sox as he is rehabbing from an ankle injury but will be back in 2025. Before he was drafted at Texas A&M in 61 games he hit .322 with a 1.187 OPS; he had 14 doubles, a triple, 27 home runs, 85 RBI, 65 runs scored, five stolen bases, and 53 walks.
6.) OF – Miguel Bleis – Greenville Drive
Bleis in 2024 played for Single-A Salem and High-A Greenville. In 95 games he hit .220 with a .657 OPS; he had 16 doubles, a triple, 11 home runs, 47 RBI, 56 runs scored, 39 walks, and 38 stolen bases. At Salem he played in 43 games hitting .257 with a .747 with ten doubles, a triple, four home runs, 22 RBI, 24 runs scored, 21 walks, and 16 stolen bases. At Greenville in 52 games, he hit .190 with a .584 OPS; he had six doubles, seven home runs, 25 RBI, 32 runs scored, 18 walks, and 22 stolen bases.
7.) RHP – Luis Perales – Portland Sea Dogs
Perales’ season came to an end as he underwent Tommy John surgery. He pitched at High-A Greenville and Double-A Portland making nine starts going 2-2 with a 2.94 ERA, a 1.31 WHIP, and 56 strikeouts in 33.2 innings. At Greenville he made seven starts going 1-2 with a 3.42 ERA, a 1.44 WHIP, and 46 strikeouts in 26.1 innings. At Portland, he made two starts before suffering the injury he went 1-0 with a 1.23 ERA, a 0.82 WHIP, and ten strikeouts in 7.1 innings.
8.) SS – Yoeilin Cespedes – Salem Red Sox
Cespedes despite being promoted to the Salem didn’t play in a game due to an injury so he spent his whole season in the rookie league, in 25 games he hit .319 with a 1.015 OPS; he had ten doubles, a triple, five home runs, 24 RBI, 20 runs scored, 12 walks, and three stolen bases.
9.) RHP – David Sandlin – Portland Sea Dogs
Sandlin pitched at Greenville and Portland this season making 18 starts going 0-4 with a 5.34 ERA, a 1.38 WHIP, and 82 strikeouts in 57.1 innings. At Greenville he made ten starts going 0-2 with a 5.12 ERA, a 1.33 WHIP, and 50 strikeouts in 31.2 innings. At Portland he made eight starts going 0-2 with a 5.61 ERA, a 1.44 WHIP, and 32 strikeouts in 25.2 innings.
10.) SS/2B – Mikey Romero – Portland Sea Dogs
Romero this season spent time in rookie ball, with Greenville, and Portland. In 78 games he hit .271 with a .821 OPS; he had 24 doubles, four triples, 16 home runs, 53 RBI, 54 runs scored, 18 walks, and a stolen base. In rookie ball he played in three games hitting .455 with a 1.045 OPS; he had a double, an RBI, and three runs scored. At Greenville in 59 games, he hit .271 with a .817 OPS; he had 20 doubles, four triples, ten home runs, 40 RBI, 40 runs scored, 16 walks, and a stolen base. At Portland in 16 games, he hit .243 with a .800 OPS; he had three doubles, six home runs, 12 RBI, 11 runs scored, and two walks.
