
The World Baseball Classic will kick off on March 5th. Team USA has a current roster of Aaron Judge, Paul Skenes, Bobby Witt Jr., Cal Raleigh, Pete Crow-Armstrong, Corbin Carroll, Garrett Whitlock, Matthew Boyd, Kyle Schwarber, Will Smith, Gunnar Henderson, Brice Turang, Garett Cleavinger, Griffin Jax, Nolan McLean, Clay Holmes, and Joe Ryan. Today reliever Mason Miller and back-to-back American League Cy Young Award winner Tarik Skubal joined the roster. Team USA has a loaded team already with the two best pitchers in baseball on it’s roster. Skubal this past season with the Tigers in 31 starts went 13-6. He posted a 2.21 ERA, a 2.45 FIP, a 0.89 WHIP, and 241 strikeouts in 195.1 innings. He finished fifth in MVP voting.

Tarik Skubal
The Tigers drated Skubal in the ninth round of the 2018 MLB Draft. In 137 appearances with 134 of those coming as starts he is 54-37. He has a 3.08 ERA, a 3.14 FIP, a 1.03 WHIP, and 889 strikeouts in 766.2 innings. He won his first Cy Young in 2024 in which he went 18-4 in 31 starts. Skubal had a 2.39 ERA, a 2.49 FIP, a 0.92 WHIP, and 228 strikeouts in 192 innings. He finished seventh in MVP voting. In six career postseason starts he is 2-1 with a 2.04 ERA, a 1.91 FIP, a 0.73 WHIP, and 56 strikeouts in 39.2 innings.
