Ahead of tonight’s game, they announced that they claimed right-handed pitcher Alek Manoah off waivers from the Toronto Blue Jays. Manoah pitched across four levels this season, pitching in rookie ball, Single-A, Double-A, and Triple-A. He made ten starts, going 1-1 with a 3.96 ERA, a 1.53 WHIP, and 35 strikeouts in 38.2 innings.

Alek Manoah
The Toronto Blue Jays drafted Manoah 11th overall in the 2019 MLB Draft out of West Virginia. In four seasons with the Blue Jays, he made 75 starts, going 29-20 with a 3.34 ERA, a 1.16 WHIP, and 412 strikeouts in 420 innings. He finished third in Cy Young voting in 2022, making 31 starts, going 16-7 with a 2.24 ERA, a 0.99 WHIP, and 180 strikeouts in 196.2 innings. He was also an All-Star that season and finished 17th in MVP voting. Manoah finished eighth in Rookie of the Year voting in 2021.
